You know I adore you, but holy fuck, do I hate Twitter. It pains me to miss even a smidgen of Geeliliciousness, but can I opt out of the tweets?

It's hard to say whether it would bug me as much, honestly. What I dislike about Twitter has much less to do with what you've posted so far and much more to do with its seeming Democritean desire to atomize communication into meaningless little soundbites.

Now, as you suggest, a lot of people (me included) do occasionally post one-sentence updates to LJ already, without using Twitter at all. But even so it at least feels to me like there's a greater purposefulness there -- and I have un-friended people who tend to use LJ Twitter-style, i.e., who post one rather contentless sentence eight times a day.

OMG, I am so bored at work today!!!!

still bored, going to get a salad from the place around the corner

don't want to process these invoices!!!

Finally!!!!!!!!!! time to go home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not saying you do that, by the way, nor that I believe myself to have any kind of right to tell anyone else what to do with their LiveJournals (or, indeed, their lives). And I don't want you to stop using Twitter altogether just for the sake of my pet peeves, especially if it makes you happy to post "tweets" (ugh -- the cutesy onomastics are a whole other ball of worms); I just thought it was easy for me to opt out of the tweets, but not the Geely, personally.

I have no problem with it; I do like that you've been posting them in daily batches, though I wouldn't opt out even if they appeared one at a time.
