Date: 2008-06-27 02:38 pm (UTC)Out of curiosity, can you tell me what it is that bugs you about it so much? Would it bug you as much if I posted the same things to LJ that I do to twitter?

Date: 2008-06-27 10:40 pm (UTC)Now, as you suggest, a lot of people (me included) do occasionally post one-sentence updates to LJ already, without using Twitter at all. But even so it at least feels to me like there's a greater purposefulness there -- and I have un-friended people who tend to use LJ Twitter-style, i.e., who post one rather contentless sentence eight times a day.
OMG, I am so bored at work today!!!!
still bored, going to get a salad from the place around the corner
don't want to process these invoices!!!
Finally!!!!!!!!!! time to go home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not saying you do that, by the way, nor that I believe myself to have any kind of right to tell anyone else what to do with their LiveJournals (or, indeed, their lives). And I don't want you to stop using Twitter altogether just for the sake of my pet peeves, especially if it makes you happy to post "tweets" (ugh -- the cutesy onomastics are a whole other ball of worms); I just thought it was easy for me to opt out of the tweets, but not the Geely, personally.
