Just took a tour of the New Amsterdam theater. I got to stand onstage where Fanny Brice, Will Rogers, and W.C. Fields stood, where the Ziegfeld Follies kicked up their heels, and look out at the 1,800 seats. I got to stand in the wings and see the Lion King costumes stored in every nook and cranny, from the walls to the ceilings to every available surface. I saw where every luminary to visit the theater has signed their names, from Tommy Lee Jones to Bill Gates. I held one of the lion masks; they're made of carbon fiber, so it weighed only about 4 ounces, but was amazingly detailed and substantial.
