Had a good rehearsal last night. For some reason lines were extra-slippery—pretty much everyone dropped or at least fumbled at least one—but thanks to a conversation with Elizabeth earlier in the day, I finally figured out some stuff about my character and motivation that totally changed a few of my scenes, much for the better. I'm finally feeling reasonably comfortable with my part, although I'm glad we have the dress rehearsals left, and I think getting the lights in will make a huge difference. I always find it distracting playing to a lit house -- much easier to get absorbed into the world on stage when I can't see the other world.

I sat in and watched the whole show for the first time, and there are some fabulous bits. [livejournal.com profile] heliopsis and [livejournal.com profile] alfie1981 in particular crack me up every time they're onstage, even -- no, especially -- when they don't have any lines. We are so blessed in our cast. And the tree! [livejournal.com profile] muffyjo has worked miracles. We have a huge old oak tree in the middle of the stage that looks better than I ever dared dream.

One week from tomorrow! Hope to see lots of you there...

Yes, it really seems to be coming together. As always, at this exact point in the process, I wish we had more time, but on the other hand we've been working on it for quite a while and I'm ready to see it under the lights and feel the magic of the audience taking you all to even greater heights.

I'm really sorry about screwing up on the letters. I swear I will have them before Monday's dress. I swear it. Really.

Well, thanks! I love what you've done with Mistress Page--and the letter will kill. I think part of the low energy at last night's rehearsal is that we've gotten used to it. When the audience sees it, they're going to be bowled over. The show will run long because we'll spend so much time waiting for laughter to subside. And people really will die during the letter, they'll laugh so hard they'll forget to breathe. Oh the humanity!
