The Drowsy Chaperone
Nov. 14th, 2006 10:53 pmThere was no line at TKTS -- it's in a temporary location, so maybe all the tourists haven't found it yet. And they had an orchestra seat for The Drowsy Chaperone, sixth row, for half price -- less than the discounted mezzanine seats I was looking at from home! Just saw the show and it was really marvelous. All kinds of fun and froth, elaborate sets and spectacular musical numbers, somehow both tongue in cheek and yet unabashedly in love with the old musicals. I hadn't realized that most of the original cast was still with the show, so I got to see Bob Martin and Sutton Foster (and Garth Kravits, formerly of the House Jacks!) I'd rave about it more, but I'm at a Kinko's paying by the minute. Time to go back to the Y and rest up for more adventures tomorrow.
