Greetings from New York! Yesterday I did a walking tour of Lincoln Square in the morning, then tried to get tickets to Shakespeare in the Park for the evening. They were sold out, but I had brought a ipcnic blanket and my lunch with me, so I found a nice spot in Central Park to have my lunch and relax for a while. That was pleasant but not quite relaxing enough, so I went back to the Y to grab a nap. Several rounds of napping and reading later, I awoke at 10pm, and wandered out for some dinner. I ended up at Ellen's Stardust Diner in Times Square, a kitschy fifties diner where the wait staff sings, which was entertaining. Walked through Times Square for a bit, then back to the Y.
This morning I got up and started wandering uptown in search of bagels, but accidentally stumbled over the Green Flea Mare had mentioned just before it opened. I spent a few hours happily shopping there; the best part was finding a guy who does letterpress on the spot, so I had him do some business cards for me just so I could learn about letterpress. Sexy stuff, that. Some of his other clients came by while we were chatting and working, and a local designer friend of his gave me some pointers ont he field and exchanged cards with me.
Now I'm back near Times Sq waiting to meet guxx for some kosher deli. Yum! Tonight it's Avenue Q, and tomorrow the wedding on Far Rockaway. I hoipe the weather holds, it's really lovely today -- warm and sunny but not too hot or humid. Hope y'all are having a great weekend too.
