miss_chance yesterday, and I was surprised at how warm the water was. More often than not when I'm at Walden I'll make it in to my knees, decide it's too cold, and retreat. This time I actually made it all the way in. Then we started lazily swimming across. miss_chance generally swims across and back; I'm not that strong a swimmer, and I tend to be over-cautious about getting myself in over my head (so to speak) in water, so while I've thought about it before, I've always been too nervous. But it was such a nice day, and we were having a nice chat as we were swimming, and so somehow I just kept going and found myself halfway across, and well then of course it only made sense to keep going. So there we were on the other shore. And we rested for a few minutes, and then swam back. I did most of it on my back, with a little sidestroke thrown in, but it just wasn't that hard. And it's not like I overcame my usual fear to do it; I just wasn't afraid this time. Kinda nice. My shoulders sure are feeling it this morning, though!
