Cross everything that's crossable for me, but I think I found a place. I haven't actually put money down yet, but I'm going to do that tomorrow. It's a cute little studio in Cambridge (so my phone number will probably change, after over 10 years), 9 minutes walk from Davis T. No washer/dryer, no storage space, but ALL MINE. I've been wanting to live alone for years, but never thought I'd be able to afford it. Of course now I'm freaking out trying to convince myself this is the right thing and that I'll manage to find room for everything, and trying to figure out when I can even pack and move, considering I leave Wednesday morning to visit my sister for Passover and don't get back until the end of the month. Anyway, I took a few photos in case anyone wants to see. Anyone good at finding ways to maximize space? This is going to be a challenge...

Leila's gotten into the habit of building lofts to sleep in, with bookshelves and other shelves underneath. Or, y'know, talking other people into building sleeping lofts for her, but you get the point. Basically, her trick is to think three-dimensionally. She feels that any space between her head and the ceiling is wasted if it's not being used to store things, and she's shorter than you are. (Of course, she has a tendency to date people who are over six feet, but she seems to feel that that's their problem, not hers.)

woo hoo, gas stove! That's a big win. Generally nice kitchen/bath for a studio, it looks like. Yay!

I'd be psyched to take a look at it when you get back, to figure out where to put things and what to replace.

pock!
