Sony is eeeeeevil.
Apr. 11th, 2003 06:49 pmI have a Sony Clie that I bought back in July. Tuesday it started acting flaky, wouldn't charge or hotsynch in either the cradle or the USB cable I use at work. Wednesday I called Sony to get them to fix it. First I was annoyed to hear that their repair process involved shipping my unit to them and waiting a week or two for them to fix it -- Palm and Handspring both send you a refurbished replacement and have you ship back your old one. Then I discovered that to even do that under warranty, they need a copy of my original receipt. After yelling at the guy on the phone, thrashing through my piles of stuff, and breaking some glass all over the place (accidentally on that last) I found that amazing enough I still had the receipt. Of course, it's faded to the point of illegibility by now because of the thermal paper it's printed on. So I scanned it into Photoshop and, er, touched it up a little. Faxed it over to them yesterday. Came home today to a call on my home machine saying that they couldn't read it, that I have to get another copy from Best Buy before they can do anything.
ARRGRHGHGHHHHH.
I hate being without my palm. It's driving me crazy. I depend on it for everything. I can shlep out to Cambridgeside to get a duplicate receipt Sunday, but I won't have access to a fax until Monday, so they won't even send me a box until Tuesday. I leave for Harrisburg for a week and a half on Wednesday. I've given away all my old PDAs. Sigh. Anyone got an old one I can borrow for a few weeks?
