I'm working on a chair dancing playlist for my iPod at work, to try to keep my energy and spirits up. What would you include? What's the top song that you just can't sit still to?

Okay, you said "chair dancing" and I thought of something TOTALLY different than the type of chair dancing you're talking about.

I have a ton of dance music that I put on at work; but without my iPod here (I forgot it today) it's hard to remember some of the better ones.

I have a BUNCH of mixes full of high energy music. I'm not sure how to copy them out of iTunes, though.

Here's a sampling (note "by" means performed by, not necessarily written by, as a bunch of these are covers):

"No Sleep Tonight" by the Faders
"Bad Reputation" by Half-Cocked
"Get Up Offa That Thing" by James Brown
"Hot Sauce" by Thomas Dolby
"As Long As I'm Singing" by Bobby Darin
"I've Been Everywhere" by Johnny Cash
"You're No Rock-n-Roll Fun" by Sleater-Kinney
"Rendez-Vu" by the Basement Jaxx
"Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" by They Might Be Giants
"I Think I Love You" by the Partridge Family
"Dance, Soterios Johnson, Dance" by Jonathan Coulton
"Lay All Your Love On Me" by Erasure
"Go Daddy-O" by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

OH! How could I forget my latest obsession!

"Mambo Italiano" by Renato Carosone

This is the one from the Visa commercial (if you've seen it) and is also covered by Dean Martin. I love this version, though.

I like both of those but for new material prefer Dream to Live. GBS is always a good choice for peppy work music though.

I notice a telling lack of Foo Fighters (e.g. "The Pretender") on this list.

I personally have a soft spot for Fetus Pop (e.g. Paramore, Avril Lavigne).

Finally, I also find the track "Run Like Hell" to be chair-danceable, but then, I am highly biased, since I wrote it and all.
