What a time to be an American.

I never thought it would happen in my lifetime. I never thought I'd see gay marriage legal, and I never thought I'd see an African-American President of the United States. I watched the news at surrealestate's last night -- first time I've ever bothered to watch election results -- and I drank champagne and cheered and cried. I want to write a letter to my nieces to make sure they understand what just happened.

I just wish the news were better on Prop 8 in CA. With 95% precincts reporting, it's 52% Yes and 48% no. But I still have hope for a better, more united, country in the years to come.
