[livejournal.com profile] hawkegirl can not only get me to deal with the sight of blood and drive on the freeway (once), she can apparently get me to use LiveJournal. She's hard to say no to. :)

We join this drama currently in process... In early January I got notice from my landlord that we need to be out by the end of March so he can renovate. I started looking at places that had an available room, with no real luck. Sunday my current roommate and I started looking through realtors together. Wednesday we saw a place that we totally fell in love with. Just one street over from our current place, lots of space, gorgeous old woodwork, heat included in the rent, and they're in the middle of doing a total rehab on the kitchen, including putting in a dishwasher and disposal. (My dishes tend to sit in the sink a little longer than strictly ideal. Like a month. A dishwasher would be Really Nice.) We decided to take a day or two to think about it and be sure the finance work.

Well, I came home from a lovely evening with [livejournal.com profile] hawkegirl and [livejournal.com profile] sandhawke and their offspring, only to have my roommate tell me that she's decided she can't afford it. Sigh. I know I'm going to end up paying abot double what I've been paying here in rent, but if I'm paying that much more, I want the place to feel worth it. Everything else I've seen so far would have been a sacrifice; this is the first place I've seen that felt like I wanted it to be my home. I'm hoping I can maybe find someone else to move in with me, but I don't know if I'll be able to in time, and I can't risk signing a lease on my own and paying that much. Bleah. I've been through the whole finding a place and moving thing before, I know I can do it and it will all work out, but man, it really sucks.

I have friends in Arlington who have another bedroom and are looking for a roommate. They're a ten minute walk from Alewife. They don't keep kosher, but something might be able to be worked out. . . I can actualy see them agreeing to keep kosher in order to get a roommate they like. . .
