Don't forget, tonight at midnight is the deadline for proposals for SomerVaudeville (details behind cut.) If you're interested in participating but can't think of anything to do, talk to
eclecticavatar or
desireearmfeldt, I'm sure they'd be happy to help. And the proposal form is really minimal, don't be frightened off by that! You don't need to have a finished act all polished yet, just an idea of something fun to do in front of a crowd.
Coming this summer: "SomerVaudeville!" An evening of entertainment at Johnny D's, directed by Andrea Humez & Renee Johnson.
Do you sing, dance, act or play an instrument? Are you a comedian, a slam poet, a spoken word master? How about juggling, bellydancing or something a little more off-kilter? We are looking for acts of all kinds to perform in this variety show. Whatever you do best, if it can be done with a minimum of people, props and tech, we would love to see it!
SomerVaudeville is an opportunity for you to strut your stuff on Johnny D's famous stage in the heart of Davis Square! What better way to get exposure for your talents than to show off in front of a Somerville audience? Your friends will finally get to see you perform in a venue where they can eat and drink! The show will take place at Johnny D's for one weeknight only in the month of June! There will be a few all-cast rehearsals (schedule to be determined), but each act will be responsible for its own individual rehearsals.
Acts will be chosen through a two-step audition process: First, contact us for a proposal form to fill out and return by February 15th. If your act seems appropriate for our audience and the logistics of the performance, we will contact you to set up an audition. The actual audition is your chance to show us a short sample of your work -- not the finished product, but something that will give us an idea of what your act will be like.
For more information, or for an act proposal form, contact auditions@theatreatfirst.org.
