weekend update
Feb. 23rd, 2004 11:35 amI've had better weekends.
Thursday I flew down to Maryland for miss_chance's mother's memorial, which was really a lovely event. It was nice to see that, notwithstanding her drawbacks as a mother, she was loved and respected by many. My favorite quote of the day came from miss_chance's sister, in the car on the way to the memorial, as we were stuck in traffic. "It's a good thing we didn't bring mom's ashes, or she'd be late to her own funeral."
Took a train down to Philly that night and my dad picked me up at the train station around 11pm. Friday was nice; I walked to the library where I spent most of my time growing up and checked out my favorite childhood book. Mom and I mixed up dough for hamentashen, my sister's family came in around 5pm, and dad brought my grandmother over. We had a nice Shabbos dinner and it was great to see everyone.
Then Friday night I spent most of the night tossing and turning, fighting heartburn and trying to sleep. Saturday was spent moaning on the couch and puking. By Sunday I was feeling somewhat better, but food was still a foreign concept. And today I had to get up at 5:15am to make my flight back and came right from the airport to work. And to add insult to injury, I got my period on the flight.
Can I go home now?
