I've had better weekends.

Thursday I flew down to Maryland for miss_chance's mother's memorial, which was really a lovely event. It was nice to see that, notwithstanding her drawbacks as a mother, she was loved and respected by many. My favorite quote of the day came from miss_chance's sister, in the car on the way to the memorial, as we were stuck in traffic. "It's a good thing we didn't bring mom's ashes, or she'd be late to her own funeral."

Took a train down to Philly that night and my dad picked me up at the train station around 11pm. Friday was nice; I walked to the library where I spent most of my time growing up and checked out my favorite childhood book. Mom and I mixed up dough for hamentashen, my sister's family came in around 5pm, and dad brought my grandmother over. We had a nice Shabbos dinner and it was great to see everyone.

Then Friday night I spent most of the night tossing and turning, fighting heartburn and trying to sleep. Saturday was spent moaning on the couch and puking. By Sunday I was feeling somewhat better, but food was still a foreign concept. And today I had to get up at 5:15am to make my flight back and came right from the airport to work. And to add insult to injury, I got my period on the flight.

Can I go home now?

blech. The bit about walking to the library sounds really nice. The rest, well.... blech. I assume you're back home now? Me too. Ain't it nice? If you're still feeling sick, let me know- I'll drop by with some soup or something.

For what it's worth, I was incredibly glad you were there on Thursday. Sorry the rest of the trip turned so awful.

Wishing you some good rest and relaxation in the comfort of your own bed,

=J
