talking to strangers
May. 14th, 2007 03:20 pmOne of my favorite performers, a guy named Vinx, had a health scare a while back, and he sent out a message to his mailing list the other day, letting people know what was going on. I wrote back, just saying that I was glad to hear he was doing better and to take care of himself. He responded "thanks Gilly.... what's going on with you these days?"
Now, I've been to maybe half a dozen of his shows over a range of quite a few years, and while I have spoken to him at a few of them, I'm pretty sure he has no idea who I am. But since he's asking, I'd love to respond. The question is, what do I say, given that he has no real context for me?

Date: 2007-05-14 08:49 pm (UTC)We used to see people perform once at a First Church's coffee house and forever after they'd be like "Heh! How're things at First Fridays these days?"
I'd chat like at a party with an interesting friend-of-a-friend..."I'm temping while I look for a new job... know anyone who needs a print graphics wiz? And I'm auditioning for this kickin summer one-acts festival. Cross your fingers that I get a part. And I have a solo in the community chorus thing on Saturday - come hear us if you're not gigging..."
