It's not actually much about bees -- it's the first in a series about Sherlock Holmes, and a young (Jewish, left-handed- myopic... not that I identify with her at all...) woman that becomes his partner, later in life than the Conan Doyle stories. I'm in the middle of re-reading another in the series now, O Jerusalem, set in what was then Palestine. Great stuff.
