Grand Cayman
Feb. 21st, 2007 11:18 amGreetings from Grand Cayman! Nice to be back here --
miss_chance and I came some years back and really enjoyed it. The funny thing is, I don't remember the ground moving this much underneath me last time... must have finally found my sea legs.
Mare, the speed dating was terrifying. 100 Jewish singles in one room, women in benches along the wall, men crammed into chairs facing us. Yell your name, city and occupation above the noise to the guy across the table, get his in return, the whistle blows, and the guys move on. And many of the guys here are a little old for me, even without taking into account my penchant for younger men. I'm looking for a husband, not a grandfather. Still, most of the people are pretty nice, even if they're not our kind of freaks. I've hooked up (not like that, don't be silly) with a small group of other women who have mostly given up on the guys, and we've been protecting each other. Although the matchmaker finally cornered me this morning and made me promise to meet with her this evening. I expect to have to spend a lot of time trying to explain why a 55-year-old man from Manchester is not a good match for me.
There's a ridiculous amount of food. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, late night snack... the dinners are very good, but the other meals are buffet style and not all that great. Yesterday lunch included too-cold pre-made sushi. No raw fish, but there pineapple rolls and lox-and-avocado rolls.
Going on a snorkel trip this afternoon, I can't wait. As usual on a cruise, I've spent a lot of time looking at the ocean and not nearly enough time in it.
OK, that's about my time at this internet station. Hope you all are doing well and not too cold. Can't wait to see you all again!
Oh, and happy belated birthday Kerri! Sorry, don't have time to find my fancy birthday styles...

Have a great time playing in the ocean! We know you secretly miss all the ice we have here...

Date: 2007-02-21 05:09 pm (UTC)Have I made a match for you!
He's handsome, he's young!
Alright, he's 62.
But he's a nice man, a good catch, true?
True.
I promise you'll be happy,
And even if you're not,
There's more to life than that--
Don't ask me what.
