Yesterday I went to work, rushed out to a chorus concert at a Jewish assisted living facility in Brighton only to find out they were not expecting us and had a jazz band booked instead; we ended up waiting until 7:45 and performing a shorter version of our concert, which they loved. Got home around 9, just in time to heat up a can of chicken soup in hopes of taming the cold that had been plaguing me all day, and then Tim showed up to pick me up for Return of the King in Danvers. So much for my planned nap. I started to fall asleep at the very beginning and was worried that I'd miss the whole movie, but pretty soon I was so engrossed that the hours flew by. The obnoxious guy sitting next to me making snide comments did detract from my enjoyment a little, but obviously I'll just have to see the movie again. I'm sure you've heard by now how hard it rocked, so I don't need to go into details.

On the way home I felt a little relieved, which seemed odd. After all, I've loved these movies and looked forward to each new one, and it's sad that there won't be another one next year. I finally realized that the relief was because, not having read the books, I really needed to SEE that everything ends ok, that I can stop worrying about Frodo and Sam and the rest of the Fellowship in the back of my mind.

Slept in an extra hour or so this morning, which meant I got all of 4 hours, made it in and was semi-useful, then we had our department holiday party at a bowling alley. I'm usually terrible, but I did pretty well for me; even got a few strikes. And of course I got to wear my cute bowling shirt, so it was all worth it.
