The best way I can come up with to pronounce YCTIWY (You Can't Take It With You) is "Yuck ptooey". (The P is silent).

There's also "yoo kant tayke it with yoo".

We on the production team have been referring to it as "CTI" for that exact reason. Plus it sounds like a Jerry Bruckheimer TV show!

YWITCY, pronounced Yuh-wit-see. But then you have to do the show backwards.

You Can't Take It? Can't Take It? ooh, i like CTI. maybe the title of the show is trying to tell you something: YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU AND MAKE IT SHORT.

oh but yuck ptooey is rather clever.

were we in Meet-Kuh together then? i liked "Murder" though. it was so deliciously vaguely grim.

We were having trouble in class today with shortening the title "The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things" (quite a decent book, actually).

We did have a fun discussion about what to call it and how to abbreviate it...had to get the important decisions made early!

Looking at other shows' examples didn't help.

First word - Murder - You? Nope.
First two words - Merry Wives - You Can't? Sorry...no.
Last word - Splash - still You. Still nope.
Last two words - Charlie Brown - With you...not so great.

The anagrams are worse.

YCTIWY. You've discovered the lack of poetry on that one. It looks like a carton swear word to me, and let's face it, it is just too long and complicated for me to type!

Our esteemed producer suggested TIWY, pronounced tee-wee...from Take It With You, but we already know you can't take it with you...and it sounded like a Southern lady's euphemism for what happens in the ladies' room. Just too twee for me!

The delightful director said he'd worked on the show before, so I asked him what they called it.
He said "Can't Take It" which I don't especially care for...but that produced CTI! Which does have a trendy TV show sound and is short to type...so there we are!

Only time will tell if this will actually catch on.

When I worked on this show, we just referred to "Can't Take It," which came, over the course of the production, to have somewhat of a double meaning.

It also occurred to me that you could just call it "Leave It." I mean, if you can't take it with you, what other options do you have?
