Feast or famine! I'm waiting for the final word from a landlord on an apartment that I was actually kind of psyched about, when my landlord just came to me and asked to me stay until spring. On the one hand, I'm *loving* having this place to myself. The other place is nice, and it has some things this one doesn't -- storage, a dishwasher, a dog -- but it's not living alone. This might give me time to see about buying a place for the spring. But on the other hand I'm afraid that I'll end up in the same situation again, not being able to find a place in a reasonable time, especially if I'd be looking for around March, which is a weird time. And I hate to back out on the woman in the other apartment, who's been really nice to me. Any advice?

Standard Tactic #4: Share your dilemma, in a totally non-threatening way, with each landlord, brainstorming with them. They may be happily flexible in a way which you don't know about (because it didn't occur to them you were in this particular situation).
