Where can you buy goth clothes around Boston? I need something for a Halloween costume. Not entirely sure what I'm looking for, but I'm thinking possibly some kind of bodice/corset or something with long drippy sleeves (bell sleeves, batwing sleeves, that sort of thing.) Thanks!

I have some you could borrow if you're interested. I think you've seen my oh-so-goth blouse with the Elvira sleeves, and I have a black dress with a lace-up bodice front that you would look Gothly smashing in. Let me know if you're interested in seeing it before buying lots of stuff.

If you get to the North Shore at all, there's is a place there crap the name just completely left my head as soon as I started typing.

Grrrrrr....The Fools Mansion!!! (phew) I think...

At any rate, they have beautiful things, though a little pricey.

And, honestly, at this time of year, Hot Topic is likely to have something affordable, I know there are a couple around here in malls. Regardless of the ribbing Hot Topic gets, I have found some really excellently cool things there.

Yeah, their clothing is decent (I just got an excellent skirt there last week). It helps if you realize that it is not wearing their clothing that makes you cool *grin*

Additionally, the garment district might have some cheap gothy stuff. I've gotten some delightful things there.

Two Christmas's ago I worked part time at a Hot Topic. I went in to fill out the application in my bookstore supervisor clothes.

I found out my 2nd night, when I had lugged a gothy dress/makeup bag there to change before work that they hired me *because* I looked so "normal".

They were thinking I'd be really good dealing with the parents who wanted to complain about their products....

hehehe

Ha! Yeah, it's very useful to be able to look completely normal at times and completely NOT normal at times. I feel like I'm leading a double life: the me that my family and the office job I have know and the the me I am the rest of the time.

Some excellent shops, all close to the T:

Hubba Hubba (Central Square, Mass Ave)
Hootenanny (Harvard Square, in the Garage)
Eros Boutique (South End, Tremont Street)

I get all of my Man Ray gear at these places.

I have a corset that might fit you but it's a blue not black. If you want all black I can't help, sorry. You've gotten lots of good suggestions. *hugs*

A fellow journalist is sponsoring the 2nd annual Bloodfeast (http://www.livejournal.com/users/talludahling/130909.html). Maybe you're going to this?
