What a way to start the day

I got to work this morning, took the elevator up to my floor, went to take out my badge to open the door, and it was not in its usual place in my purse. I remembered having it still on during the Much Ado read-through last night, and then taking it off and putting it in my purse, so I knew it must be there. I put down my umbrella, my backpack, my coffee, and my muffin on the floor and took everything out of my purse -- still no badge. Used my cell phone to call a cow orker, who came to let me in (just as someone else got off the elevator and opened the door to me, of course.) Made a mental note to email heliopsis, who had hosted the line reading last night, to ask if he had found it anywhere, and then promptly forgot again.

An hour later, I was walking down the hall when my hand hit something plastic by my side. My badge. Which I had clipped to my pants before I left this morning.
