Aug. 14th, 2003 09:38 amMet with the landlord and roommate of the new place last night, signed a lease, and handed over a check. The landlord hasn't signed the lease yet, so I suppose something could still go wrong, but it's looking pretty good. I'm both relieved and really stressed; I know it'll be a good place, but starting all over in a new place with a new person is always hard.
Details: it's on Powderhouse Blvd, not far from where I am now. (So still in Somerville and I should be able to keep my phone number.) It's the second floor of a 3-floor house, and the landlord lives next door. One of those great old Somerville houses that has been treated right; gorgeous woodwork everywhere, built-in cabinets, front and back balconies. My bedroom is huge, has lot of windows, and one wall is all mirrors. There's a dishwasher, and storage space in the basement. My roommate is a psych/marketing professor, seems like a cool woman, and has a wonderful dog. I think it's all going to be good, it's just going to take a while to adjust.
Time to book movers. I've always had good luck with Gentle Giant, although I've heard they're not the cheapest; any other recommendations?
