I just found out that tomorrow, in the very building where I work, the guy who played Lutz (head orc) in the LotR movies will be appearing, and they'll be applying him make-up as a demo for the Museum of Science exhibit. I would LOVE to see that. But noooooo, I'm going to be on a plane to Philly for my stupid Mom's stupid birthday. Sigh.

But you all should go. And tell me how lame it was and that I didn't miss anything.

Now that must be an interesting job--flying from state to state, country to country, being publically tranformed into an orc. I wonder if that was in his LotR contract?

Sorry you've gotta miss it--but have a good trip to Philly!

Sorry, but not only will I not have seen the transformation, but I'm here, just back from a week in Brazil for my dad's 70th b-day to tell you that no matter how interesting the actor/make-up would/could have been, I support you going for you mom's b-day. You can always see a video of the person being made up, you can always see it later even if you have to go some other city for it. But your parent's birthdays are more important, even if they seem less interesting right now -- years from now you would have forgotten about this actor being in your very building, but you will remember the birthdays. Or at least that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it... until you come back from Philly and tell us all about the party anyway... ;-)
