As [livejournal.com profile] lordfeepness reminded me last night, many months ago, [livejournal.com profile] bismuthobsidian and I were saying that we should go to an 80s dance. But we didn't know of any in Boston, so we decided we'd just have to throw one ourselves. So we did.

Thanks so much to everyone who braved the insanely hot weather and came out to dance -- it looked like everyone was having fun, and I know I had the best time EVER. Thanks to the wonderful people who came early to set up and stayed late to clean up and to everyone who managed to pull together an 80s outfit. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pheromone for lending us some of her decorations and for borrowing lots of goodies for us. A million thanks to Joelll and Hobbit for giving us sound and lights -- I had originally envisioned just setting up a playlist off someone's iPod and turning off the fluorescents, so this was beyond my wildest dreams. And most of all, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bismuthobsidian for making it happen with me -- I won't be online Monday, so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I'm sunburned from Pride, exhausted from lack of sleep, aching from dancing all night, but supremely happy and proud of myself. We didn't make a lot of money, but we at least broke even, and my priority all along was first to have a dance where I and other nerds who never would have gone to a dance in the actual 80s could have fun and feel safe dancing like fools, and only secondarily to make some money. But we'll definitely have to do it again in a cooler month. We'll probably still have some cheese balls left.

Oh yeah, and on the off chance you wanted to take a look -- I have a few pictures :) Can't wait to see what the ones everyone else took!
