Had a faaaaabulous Pride, as it should be. I haven't made it for the past two years -- little things like my grandmother's 95th party and
hawkegirl having a baby. I used to wear leather for pride, but that just wasn't where I was this year, so I got a tank top that says "100% Kosher" and wore
chanaleh's "shabbat shalom, mother f*cker" pin. (Which left most people confused, several mildly amused, and the one other person who had seen The Hebrew Hammer in hysterics.) At the last minute I put some glitter around my eyes -- after all, everyone needs a *little* extra sparkle for Pride.
I made it to the bi brunch around 10:30, and was surprised how few people I knew. I did get to see Robyn Ochs and congratulate her on her recent (and legal!) marriage. Flatteringly enough, she was thrilled to see me and said she had been trying to reach me; she's working on the latest Bi Resource Guide and wanted to ask me to write something on religion and spirituality, maybe rework something from my piece in Blessed Bi Spirit. I haven't even read that piece in years now, but I figure I can probably come up with something.
Went out around 11 and wandered around trying to find the Am Tikva/Keshet contingent; while I'm not particularly active with Keshet anymore, I figured I could join in, and that seemed like where I belonged these days. Am Tikva had a huge float with a chuppa and a bunch of couples on it and tin cans dragging behind, and the rest of us strutted and horah'ed and walked behind them. It's always so much fun to see the crowd's reaction and whoop and wave back at them.
By the time we made it to the Common I was exhausted, so I wandered until I found the poly tent and collapsed in the shade with all the folks I knew there. Had a nice time catching up with Wadlow especially, and we came back to Davis together around 3, when I drank some water, wolfed some food, and fell asleep for 4 hours.
