Hell day

Well that was fun. I left my house yesterday to find an envelope taped to the door from a lawyer's office. Left it there to deal with when I got home. My boss is on vacation this week, so of course three different jobs I'm working on right now blew up in my face and needed to be printed IMMEDIATELY and I had to scramble both to get them out and to make sure that it wasn't my fault and that I could prove it. While my department head is standing in my cube listening to me talk to a potential roommate on the phone and waiting, making me very nervous. And while people kept calling every five minutes with other little jobs, because the sales meeting is coming up and everyone wants everything NOW. Remind me to schedule my vacation after my boss's next year; it's always a mess when he's out, and my vacation is now but a dim memory.

Went to see two potential places last night. One is a two-bedroom on Willow and Kidder (I know Miss_Chance will like that part). The bedroom is big enough and on its own on the second floor. I think I might have to fight a little for a share of the common space for my stuff. I don't love the woman who lives there but I could probably live with her. Has a dishwasher, laundry, storage space, and no cats.

The other place is a one-bedroom on Mass Ave between Central and Harvard (near the Plow and Stars). Dingy old apartment building, third floor with no elevator. Incredibly hot inside. I could probably fit my stuff, I think. But the fridge is small and the freezer compartment is smaller than I can deal with, and the rent is $900 (including h&hw), and probably the biggest downside is that I'd have to go through the management company and I'm sure they'd do a credit check. Sigh.

Left there, waited at Central for a T while 2 passed the other direction. Was tired and stupid and accidentally went inbound and had to change in Kendall, meanwhile realizing that the two that went the other way were going my way after all. Grrr. Got home and opened the letter. Yep, eviction. I have until the end of August, at least. And I know how to stall longer if necessary, although I really hope that I'll be out by then. Too tired to eat dinner, but I had ice cream on my way between work and the first place -- sure, that counts.

And here we go again, another exciting day to face. Bleah. I'll probably email the Somerville woman and tell her I'm interested. Sigh. Definitely going to need some packing help soon, if anyone's available.
