Tam Lin by Pamela Dean
An old favorite, and a great re-read inspired by seeing [livejournal.com profile] greenlily with it in the green room.

Juniper, Gentian, And Rosemary by Pamela Dean (1999)
The Dubious Hills by Pamela Dean (1994)
It occurred to me that I love Tam Lin so much, it might be worth checking out some of the author's other books. These are the ones that happened to be in the BPL. I enjoyed them, but not as much as Tam Lin. Still, I'll probably see what else of hers I can find — if you happen to know her work, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Smoke and Shadows by Tanya Huff (2006)
None of the other Blood Books were available at the library, but this one was — it's the first of 3 books about Tony (a character from the books but not the TV show), strongly featuring Henry as well. I liked it, I'm planning on reading the others.

A Monstrous Regiment of Women by Laurie R. King (2000)
Another in the Sherlock Holmes series that starts with The Beekeeper's Apprentice. I love these books.

Memory in Death (In Death) by J.D. Robb (2006)
An SF series by Nora Roberts, Romance Queen. Eh. I read this series, and enjoy it when I come across a new one, but it's not really worth going out of my way for. I like her characters, in general, but I really hate some of the things she does with technology.

The Safe-Keeper's Secret (Firebird) by Sharon Shinn (2005)
First books in a fantasy YA series from the author of the Archangel series (which [livejournal.com profile] lillibet turned me on to, and I strongly recommend. Especially to [livejournal.com profile] lifecollage. Go read it.) This was definitely younger and simpler in many ways, but I enjoyed it, and I'm curious to read some more in this world she's set up.

A note — I've started playing with LibraryThing to keep track of the books I read. If you're interested in more info on any of these, you might try clicking on the little button below.

I love all of Dean's stuff, as well. Tam Lin was always my favorite, though.

I like that sonnet so much--and it's such a nice companion to the one Janet writes in Tam Lin. I love when authors allow themselves to revisit things that are clearly important to them, even if it's something they've already used.

As you can imagine, I'm always up for fangrrling about Dean's novels, but I haven't got time just now. I'll start a thread over in my journal this evening if there's time.

Tam Lin was my favorite as well, though I think Dubious Hills is the best standalone after that one. J,G,&R I disliked, namely because I identified too much with Juniper, whom the book despises. I do love The Secret Country trilogy, and I think I have all three, if you want to borrow them.

My LibraryThing badly needs updating. I think it's just all the books I could come up with from memory during Christmas break 2005-2006.

I blame Tam Lin at least in part for me majoring in Classics.

I've decided to avoid disgusting rain and the house of plague for tonight, but seeing as you live basically next door you can come over to get books anytime. I work from home in the afternoons, and of course evenings are fine too. Just drop me a line any time.

I did go ahead and buy the scanner, and I bought a permanent membership last year... and yet cataloging the books is still daunting. I just have too many!
