Before T@F started, I used to sing with the Somerville Community Chorus. They're a fun and friendly non-audition group. It's been a few years now and I've been really missing singing, so I think I'm going to join them again this season. Anyone want to go with me?

Welcome to the spring 2007 season of the Somerville Community Chorus. This season’s program is “a Groovy Review of Pop Hits from the 1970's.” In addition to choral pieces, there will be opportunities for soloists from the chorus to add their own favorites from the 70's.

Open rehearsals will be held at 7:15 pm on Tuesday January 16th and 23rd at the Somerville Council on Aging. Feel free to attend one or both of these to learn about the chorus and the season's program. After the open rehearsals, we ask people to join by paying dues for the season and committing to attend most of the season's rehearsals.

The chorus will hold a concert of the season’s program on May 19th. We’ll also perform mini-concerts at local assisted living facilities.

The Somerville Council on Aging is located at 167 Holland Street, a little more than half-way from Davis Square to Teele Square. It's a couple-minute walk from the Davis Square T and parking is available. Enter the building through the Holland Street entrance. For a map and other details, go to our web site at www.somervillechorus.com.

Anyone who loves to sing can join the Somerville Community Chorus. There are no auditions and the membership dues are only $65 per season. You are not required to sight-read music and practice tapes are available to help you learn your parts. Remember, no auditions! If you like the chorus, just pay your dues and you're in!

Are rehearsals open?

Since the COA is only three blocks away, I could drop in to listen from time to time if you hold open rehearsals. If not, I've calendared your preformance date. I wish I had the time to join you, but I'm already singing every Thursday and Sunday. Enjoy!

It appears that rehearsals are always on Tuesday... is that right?

*weeps*

I hate conflicting schedules!

'cause this sounds like *just* the sort of group I wanted to find.

OK, I'll pass on this group, because what I really want to find is a choir that does classical music (anything written after 1900 is less fun for me to sing, well sorta). Do you know of any choirs (audition required is OK) that do a classical repertoire and aren't associated with a place of worship?

Oh, and they can't be fanatical about attendance, because my job is fanatical about meeting deadlines

TIA!
