Sep. 19th, 2003 11:10 amMy tap teacher is having an open house this Sunday from 3-4pm at the Dance Complex in Central Square, 536 Mass Ave. My class will be doing 2 pieces, and some other classes will do a few, and there will be a audience participation section so you too can try tap dancing. Hope some of you can make it, I think it'll be fun.

Date: 2003-09-22 11:18 am (UTC)It went really well. Small audience, and none of my friends managed to make it, but fun nonetheless. My class did two pieces. The first one she doesn't normally have her beginners perform, but we'd been doing so well that she felt confident we could handle it. We weren't so sure. I haven't made it all the way through that one without any mistakes too many times, plus there's a step at the end that I'm still having trouble mastering the technique for, so I'd prepared myself to feel ok about not doing it perfectly, and just have fun. Probably because of that I got through the whole thing without any major mistakes, and didn't /quite/ nail the last step but did it well enough that the non-dancing audience probably couldn't tell.
Then we did the last piece together with her other classes, and that was just a blast. We do it without music, so she calls it Tapapella (like a capella), and we do it in 3 groups as a canon. Made it through that perfectly and it was fun to hear the sound of us all.
All in all very satisfying, and I start lessons for level II on Thursday!
