I ran out at lunch today and got myself a half-price ticket to see Stomp tonight. Work ended up being a full day, but I got a project done that I wasn't sure I'd be able to, and I still had a ton of time to kill before the show. I decided a nice meal would be a good way to kill some time, so I went to McCormick & Schmidt in the Park Plaza.

They had a ton of yummy-looking fresh fish options, but I finally decided on the salmon -- King salmon from Washington State roasted on a cedar plank and served with a mixed Northwestern berry sauce. It was delicious; the salmon was tender and moist, and the sauce enhanced the flavor without being overwhelming.

After nearly licking my plate clean, I was still way too early, so clearly the only thing to do was have dessert. I went for the upside-down apple pie with a walnut crust, served warm with a scoop of ice cream. I was almost too full to walk, but I managed to get to the theater in time and enjoyed the show immensely.

The kids sitting behind me remarkably managed to not annoy me throughout the show, I was in the first row of the second section with no-one on either side of me so I had lots of room to get comfortable, and it's just a great show. This is the third or fourth time I've seen it, I forget which, but it's been a few years. The thing that really stood out for me this time was noticing how much the group performance enriched the music; they could do rhythms as a group that no one person could do alone, but if you closed your eyes you'd never be able to tell who was doing what, it was so seamless.

([livejournal.com profile] hawkegirl, you should have come -- there was an incredibly hot Japanese chick in the cast with bright crimson hair and attitude to spare. Her bio says she's a taiko drummer, and you could really see some of that in her style.)

And now it's past my bedtime, but I can sleep in tomorrow! Yay! And I have [livejournal.com profile] miss_chance's delicious dinner to look forward to. I have much to give thanks for.
