I had a fabulous night last night. I went over to Bostix at lunch and got myself a ticket for Noises Off at the Lyric Stage. After a very full and hectic day, I decided that I deserved a really nice night, and treated myself to a fabulous dinner at Skipjacks.

There were so many good things on the menu that I asked the waitress what she recommended, and she raved about the gingered sea bass, so I ordered that. It was delicious -- buttery and succulent and covered in a rich ginger soy glaze, with just enough rice to soak up and extra sauce and some snow peas and julienned asian vegetables underneath. I still had a few minutes and a little extra room after that, so I had the raspberry mousse cake for dessert, which came with fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream that made it all the better.

They had told me at Bostix that my seat was on the left side, but I forgot that at the Lyric the left means really way over on the left of the stage, not towards the left facing forward, but so you see the actors in profile. My seat was in the third row on the way far left, so I was a little concerned that I wouldn't be able to see anything, but after the theater filled there were empty seats over toward the other side of my row, so they ushers had us all move down, and it worked out fine. They were playing Spike Jones as house music. My dad used to play him for us, and I haven't thought about that in years -- great stuff and very funny.

The show was hysterical. I've seen Noises Off at least twice before -- once in stage, once on film -- but I have a terribly memory for things like that, which means that I remembered I love the show, but conveniently forgot all the details. I laughed my ass off. The actors were fabulous, the set was ingenious -- it's a very small stage, so at the two intermissions they unbolted the set pieces, did some careful moving around, and managed to reverse the entire set. Those actors who played backstage people came on and helped move the set in character, which was fun to watch.

I'll admit that I also checked my email and read LJ during the intermissions, just because I could. I'm so pleased with my new toy.

All in all a very nice night, and exactly what I needed. Now I just need to stay awake through work today!

When we saw it in London one of the promo quotes out front said "Life-threateningly funny" and we found that spot on. At one point (I think during the simulated blow-job in the second act) Jason was doubled over in his seat and I was *pounding* on his back (as one might do to a table). After we managed to regain our composure I apologized to Jason and he said "For what?" He hadn't felt a thing!

Glad you had such a great time!
