concert report
Thanks so much to everyone who came to the concert last night! It was wonderful to see so many loving faces in the audience,
and fun to see who was singing along to what :) I managed to remember to actually enjoy myself and listen to the music, although I had to keep pulling myself back to that place as I would start to worry about a phrase coming up or look over to find someone in the crowd or try not to wince at a wrong note. And apparently it showed, as I had one audience member (someone I didn't know, even) compliment me on my showmanship at the intermission, which left me with a nice glow.
I had 4 solo spots (well, some of them real solos, some of them singing in a smaller group.) The one I was most worried about, my longest individual bit, the intro to Imagine, felt a little shakier than it had in my best rehearsals, but not awful by any means. And our trio for The Rose went *really* well. I was having a little trouble with my low notes that night, and most of my part is in my lower register, so there were a few shaky notes, but the two solo phrases I have in that song were a little higher, and it felt to me like they came out clear and pure and hardly shaky at all -- definitely the best I've done them anywhere but my shower.
Luckily, by the time we came to Bohemian Rhapsody, all of my solo bits were done and I could just relax and groove out to the music -- what a blast. Never thought I'd get to sing that piece in a choir!
It turns out that there was no recording made of the concert. I'm sorry, because I wanted my family to get to hear it, but I'm not sure I could face listening myself, so ah well.
