I've been admiring Maori carved bone necklaces for years, and wanting one of my own, but oddly enough you don't generally see them around Somerville. I was in Harvard Square last night and found the Sign of the Dove seasonal artist coop, which has been around Porter for the past few years. There were some lovely carvings there, and I spent a long time talking to the artist, Whare Heke, and picking just the right necklace. His web site is at moananuidesigns.com. (The prices on the pieces in the store were a lot cheaper than some of the ones you might see listed on the web site, too, so don't let that scare you off.)

So awesome! Both those sites -- the artist in me is inspired :-)

Can you e-mail me, I'm having trouble doing so for you, but can probably reply to an email without problem.

I can't seem to bring myself to wear mine anymore. It's kind of sad because it's very lovely and I'd love to have one to wear, but I think I have to pass this one on, it's too loaded for me.

just the right necklace

Is that the one you were wearing at Movie Night? I remember thinking at the time that it was very, very nice.
