Things I missed about home while I was gone:
  • My friends
  • privacy
  • Poland Springs water (dunno why, but it just tastes better to me)
  • geeks
  • my computer
  • people who speak my language

Things I miss about the ship now that I'm back:
  • My friends
  • the rocking of the boat (although I'm still getting a little of that...)
  • warmth
  • having five meals a day provided for me
  • the ocean
  • hearing multiple languages and accents
  • having my bed made up every time I left it for 5 minutes

Hmm. I suppose home still wins. It's just too bad I can't combine the two somehow...

If it helps, I can talk to you in multiple languages.
Welcome back, though.

My Spanish is stronger.
Any Italian I learned came from "The Margaret Ghost".

Today I had to go to East Boston and all the signs were in Spanish. And I had to ask someone for directions (simple ones "Where's the Radio Shack [that someone already told me was very near by here]?") and when they pronounced "Radio Shack" as "Raadio Chak", I dropped a "sí" in there so that we switched languages and I could clarify with her in Spanish.
I was pleased at how easily I could still use it. :-)

Btw, [livejournal.com profile] leofwynn will be in town for Shabbat/Purim.

Tremont St it is, where I will be reading megillah both Sat night and Sunday day :-)

You could ride the Orange Line all day and get three of those.
:)

(the warmth, the multiple languages and accents, and the rocking).
