Rosenthol Design samples: carnival wedding invitation

Here are the wedding invitations I designed for Briavael O'Reilly and Nicole Pashka. They wanted the invites to look like carnival tickets, so I drew from my extensive collection of vintage woodtype fonts to create something with a fun old-time feel. The final invitations were 9" x 4", designed to fit into standard envelopes to keep costs down, while still looking like a ticket. I suggested using string-tied policy envelopes, with the flap on the short side, to add some extra flair for mailing.

I just want to say that I loved the tree and thought it suited the day perfectly.

The brightly colored tree on the day-of programs WAS perfect, and was designed by a friend of Andy's from college. The invitations were purchased at a shop (with the single-color printed leaves and the green ribbon). We had much more leeway with the programs, but of course, those were designed rather later than picking out the invitations. She actually had no problems at any point with the programs.

My mother's wedding invitation were the old-school text printed on the front of a card-that-opens but the card is blank on the inside (I do not understand this AT ALL), no decorations, millions of extra envelopes. The first set of invitations I picked out had subtle Cthulhu tentacles around the corners. Poor mom! She was as easy-going as she could handle, and there weren't any real arguments.
